huili is evil! she offered me durians at the HQ today when she knows that my next lesson is SP1202 which requires alot of discussion in class! i eat durians alr then my mouth will stink and when i discuss my partner will be able to smell the durians&he will find me so gross. after constant persuasion from my sis,
i decided to challenge myself and bake a kuehlapis aka thousand layer cake on friday.
ive always steered clear of baking this cake since its super time-consuming, tedious and requires a ridiculously large number of eggs.
(the recipe calls for 18egg yolks and 5 eggwhites -_-)
and it doesn't help that im not a big fan of kuehlapis in the first place.
ingredients also include brandy & i even used remy martin cognac OKAY.the cake turned out beautifully with distinct layers and the whole kitchen was so aromatic when it was in the process of baking
BUT it tastes NOTHING like kuehlapis.
it smells like kuehlapis. it looks like kuehlapis. but it just tastes like a normal butter cake.
): waste my ingredients&time man. I TOOK FOUR HOURS YOU KNOW!

to sister dearest: just stick to bengawan solo alright? im not going to attempt kueh lapis in the near future ever again ):

went to nus with peiying for our matriculation!
we waited for a friggin' long time )): and the matriculation process itself took less than 3mins.

heaved a huge sigh of relief when we saw ma-zu (magaret) alr there with the guys-jianchong, chongching, joshua & josiah.
josiah is SO SWEET (: he bought cakes from secret recipe for everyone from johorbahru (its HALF the singapore price) - oreo cheesecake, chocolate cake, white chocolate cake and one more i forgot. too bad joelyn wasnt there or else she'll be SO overjoyed.
BUT JOSIAH, I WANTED DUNKIN' DONUTS ): HAHAHHA

kboxing was pretty fun (yvonne joined us at kbox)

boo. in an attempt to savage the situation, i removed them from the cups and frosted them with nutella & a smiley of white chocolate chips.
the cupcake recipe said it could yield 12 servings but i only got 7.
so i added in the 'deepdarkchocolate brownies' topped with crushed oreos (:

had to leave early as sis dearest forgot to bring her keys and couldnt get home so i left early at arnd 5plus & had to give steamboat a miss!

i travelled all the way to bugis&found my way to this ulu street called kandahar st in search of this bakery called 'rich&good cake shop' which sells really yummy swiss rolls (:
no im not random or crazy. my mum asked me about the cake shop after she heard about it from her friend and she has been constantly asking me about it ever since.
the shopfront itself looks oh-so-vintage.
good ol' swiss rolls are only available in good ol' bakeries!
